Kobus de Jager

Kobus is the founder and Managing Director of PaCE QS Services Pty Ltd – Australia, where he has resided since 2020. He holds a National Diploma (NDip) in Quantity Surveying and Construction Management obtained from the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa. Kobus’s professional career started in 2006 as a junior candidate Quantity Surveyor in the mining and engineering services sector, and in May 2014 Kobus co-founded a Professional Quantity Surveying company in South Africa with his best friend and current business partner Robert Barnard (LMJ QS Services Pty Ltd).

As a trusted business partner and a strategic thinker with over 15 years’ experience in multi-national mining and infrastructure related projects, Kobus recognises and appreciates opportunities for growth and he has the ability to realise value from projects irrespective of size.

Kobus’s main focus and duties as a Director includes, not only successful running of the Company, but also oversight of all company projects with a key focus on building and maintaining relationships with Clients and identifying growth and/or cost saving opportunities that benefit their fields of work.

Kobus has gained invaluable experience in pre- and post-contract work, with core strengths being the execution of projects (small and large) and the implementation of commercial controls and cost forecast procedures.

A further strength is his ability to salvage underperforming or mismanaged projects, by identifying and rectifying the problem areas pertaining to cost control, contract administration and cost reporting procedures in aid of shareholder return.

Further to the South African business, Kobus successfully established and operated a business in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which uniquely positioned us to execute work in the region, based on his understanding of the market and the operational risks in Country.

Kobus enjoys working in a dynamic and fast paced environment where he can use his extensive experience, combined with his entrepreneurial abilities and ‘can-do’ attitude, to lead the development of strategy, business planning and operational excellence in achieving project specific and/or business results.
