Adapting and adjusting to the ever-changing world has been vital in how Robert approaches life and work. Robert puts a great emphasis on accepting challenges and using them as an opportunity to expand his horizons in both his professional and private life.

As part of these challenges, he has completed various endurance events such as the Cape Epic and Munga cycling events, as well as the UTCT, Otter and Rhodes trail runs. Going to these events and travelling throughout beautiful South Africa with his wife and son ensures a healthy balance between his family and work commitments.

Outside of his work and sports life, Robert loves reading and expanding his knowledge. He is passionate about South African art and wines and is always looking to add something new and exciting to his collection.

Career Information

Robert currently is employed as the Managing Director of PaCE QS Services in South Africa. He started his professional career in 2006 whilst completing his BSc QS (Hons) degree at the University of Pretoria. After a couple of years and being involved in multiple commercial and infrastructure projects, Robert branched out and started focussing more on the mining, minerals and processing, petrochemical and energy sectors as part of the owners or the professional team.

During this time, Robert worked on various projects across Southern Africa, West and Central Africa, the Middle East, and abroad where he sharpened his skills in estimating, pre and post-contract quantity surveying and contract management services. These projects ranged from small, stay-in-business projects to mega capital projects, from concept until execution completion and covered a vast array of commodities, including platinum, gold, copper, nickel, and rare earth minerals.

His expertise includes capital estimate compilations, independent capital estimate assurances and reviews, contract management during the pre-and post-contractual phases, claim management and assessments, and determining project contracting strategies.

Robert’s current role as Managing Director of PaCE QS Services includes strategic planning, developing business processes, managing key account managers, and overseeing and servicing various projects. Robert is focused on determining each Client’s or project’s specific requirements to ensure the services rendered to provide the value add and cost-saving results, which has become synonymous with PaCE QS Services.

With a focus on continuous improvement and development, Robert is registered as a professional quantity surveyor and is a professional member of various local and international bodies. These include professional registration at:

  • SA Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP)
  • The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS)
