Robert Barnard

Robert currently is employed as the Managing Director of PaCE QS Services in South Africa. He started his professional career in 2006 whilst completing his BSc QS (Hons) degree at the University of Pretoria. After a couple of years and being involved in multiple commercial and infrastructure projects, Robert branched out and started focussing more on the mining, minerals and processing, petrochemical and energy sectors as part of the owners or the professional team.

During this time, Robert worked on various projects across Southern Africa, West and Central Africa, the Middle East, and abroad where he sharpened his skills in estimating, pre and post-contract quantity surveying and contract management services. These projects ranged from small, stay-in-business projects to mega capital projects, from concept until execution completion and covered a vast array of commodities, including platinum, gold, copper, nickel, and rare earth minerals.

His expertise includes capital estimate compilations, independent capital estimate assurances and reviews, contract management during the pre-and post-contractual phases, claim management and assessments, and determining project contracting strategies.

Robert’s current role as Managing Director of PaCE QS Services includes strategic planning, developing business processes, managing key account managers, and overseeing and servicing various projects. Robert is focused on determining each Client’s or project’s specific requirements to ensure the services rendered to provide the value add and cost-saving results, which has become synonymous with PaCE QS Services.

With a focus on continuous improvement and development, Robert is registered as a professional quantity surveyor and is a professional member of various local and international bodies. These include professional registration at:

• SA Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP)
• The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS)
