Construction Manager

Section: Project Management

Purpose: To ensure effective overall management of construction disciplines on site by following set policies and procedures.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion.
  • Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
  • Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
  • Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory.
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance.
  • Review the work progress on daily basis.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
  • Plan to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses.
  • Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTPUTS

  • Provide direction to general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors when doing groundwork to ensure that quality standards are being met.
  • Effective site safety compliance and quality assurance

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE INDICATORS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with at least 5 years in site management within construction/engineering environment
  • Professional certification, such as CCM (certified construction manager), AC (associate constructor), or CPC (certified professional constructor)

EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant job-specific experience of 5 years (minimum)

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

  • Willing and able to travel nationally and internationally.
