Construction Manager
Grade: E1
Section: Project Management
Purpose: To ensure effective overall management of construction disciplines on site by following set policies and procedures.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion.
- Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs.
- Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
- Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
- Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory.
- Meet contractual conditions of performance.
- Review the work progress on daily basis.
- Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
- Plan to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
- Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses.
- Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks.
- Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
RESPONSIBILITIES AND OUTPUTS
- Provide direction to general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors when doing groundwork to ensure that quality standards are being met.
- Effective site safety compliance and quality assurance

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE INDICATORS
QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant tertiary qualification with at least 5 years in site management within construction/engineering environment
- Professional certification, such as CCM (certified construction manager), AC (associate constructor), or CPC (certified professional constructor)
EXPERIENCE
- Relevant job-specific experience of 5 years (minimum)
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
- Willing and able to travel nationally and internationally.
