Warren Bennett
Warren Bennett during his studies of electrical engineering was offered an opportunity to enter the project management environment, before entering the specialized project controls profession full time in 2002, with one of his first major projects being the Temane Pande Gas Field Development Project for Sasol Petroleum International.
With the specialist skills acquired in the Oil & Gas industry, Warren branched out into property development as a Development Manager, working with several property developers and financial institutions, taking large-scale mixed-use developments from their conceptual stage, through the land acquisition, environmental and town planning approvals phase, pre-sale and eventual roll-out and delivery to the end users. Despite his passion for property development, the ‘call’ of complex heavy industry mega-projects which saw Warren return fulltime into this field in 2010, where he has gained extensive experience in the control and administration of capital expansion projects, at both site and head office levels, on multi-disciplinary small, medium, large and mega capital projects in the Mining, Energy, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Paper, Sugar and Infrastructure sectors.
With a focus on Project Controls & Assurance, Warren has extensive knowledge and understanding of projects throughout the entire lifecycle, from concept to execution, be they stay-in-business (core capital), capital expansion or maintenance projects, at both site and head office (PMO) level. Experience and knowledge areas include; feasibility studies, scoping, planning & scheduling, cost engineering, project controls, programme and portfolio management, development management, reporting and assurance. In addition, Warren has for several years worked in the highly specialized claims and forensic planning space, delivery critical specialist services to several major clients and law firms.
In the ever changing business and project landscape, Warren achieves work-life balance through his sports and family. A passionate fisherman, Warren spends as much time as possible out on the ocean taking in all of its serenity and beauty whilst targeting the biggest and toughest pelagic game fish our coastline has to offer! More recently his son has been joining him on some of these amazing adventures into the deep blue, returning with some amazing fish to share with family and friends around a good old fashioned South African braai. When the ocean is inaccessible due to adverse conditions, you will find Warren either in the gym, or, being the massive food enthusiast he is, enjoying some delicious food with his wife either at home or at one of his favourite local restaurants.
